Case Study: NürnbergMesse
For the first time in Messe Germany: The digital wardrobe

The challenge
The fair showcases the future indoors – and visitors receive an old coat check tag at the front. Long queues, cash handling, and lost tags were part of everyday life at large events. For a modern exhibition center like NürnbergMesse, it was clear: This has to improve.
The partnership
Since 2024, itemdrop has been developing the digital cloakroom solution for trade fair centers in collaboration with NürnbergMesse.
The solution
In September 2025, NürnbergMesse introduced a digital cloakroom solution at FACHPACK for the first time in trade fair Germany – and that directly at seven locations on the grounds.
The guest pays with a card and can leave – without waiting for a token or cash.
The side effect: Each drop-off and pick-up becomes a unique data point that didn’t exist before. This transparency helps the fair in event planning.
The results
"For us in event coordination, it's exciting to see very transparently what is happening at the cloakroom through the dashboard, as it gives us planning security and flexibility."
Sarah Haag, Event Coordination, NürnbergMesse
"We love working with itemdrop because we have massive time savings, can save all the cash, and no longer have to manage physical coat check tokens."
Inka Meixner, Lorenz Personal (Personnel Service Provider NürnbergMesse)
The rollout
After the successful launch at FACHPACK, the deployment at it-sa followed. Starting from January 2026, itemdrop will be in use at all fairs of NürnbergMesse.
